Elizabeth “Liz” Ha

Newton Design & Marketing is pleased to announce the addition of Elizabeth “Liz” Ha to their team. Liz joins Newton as their new Assistant Art Director. In this position Liz will help formulate designs, art concepts and visual elements for magazines, advertisements and websites, as well as other printed and digital visual communications.

Liz attended the University of Houston where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Mathematics. Before coming to Newton Design & Marketing, Liz was a Graphic Designer for Mikel Marketing and also was Creative Lead for the following companies: Rich Imports, Pagoda Bistro and Sweet Cupcakes.

Liz said she enjoys her new position with Newton Design & Marketing. “It has been amazing! I’ve loved the opportunity to work on great projects and alongside a humorous, friendly and all around fantastic staff. Not everyone can say they love what they do and who they work for, but I’m grateful that I can.”
Since her time with Newton Design & Marketing, Liz has done work for Market Street in the Woodlands, ZT Wealth, Joslin Diabetes Center, SETMA Healthcare, The Woodlands CVB, Pathfinder Pediatrics.
When she is not working Liz says she enjoys cooking and baking, and also spending time outdoors.

Stewart Severino

Newton Design & Marketing is pleased to announce the addition of Stewart Severino to their team. With more than 10 years experience, Stewart joins Newton as their Director of Business Development. In this new role, Stewart will be responsible for managing Newton’s present client base as well as New Business Development.

Stewart attended St. Peters College in New Jersey and has earned numerous awards in his field. Before coming to work for Newton Design & Marketing, Stewart was the Founder and CEO of Publik Monarch which focused on Social Media Monitoring.

Stewart says he truly enjoys working at Newton Design & Marketing because they have an excellent work environment. “Newton has great team Dynamics and they offer an excellent family/work balance.”

While working at Newton, Stewart has focused his efforts on Social Media Monitoring and managing new & current clients.

When he is not working, Stewart says he enjoys spending time with his children.

Newton Soars with Waterway Video

When Newton Design & Marketing met with The Woodlands Development Company (TWDC) in November 2010, they presented them with a concept – create a video that would promote TWDC’s final vision of the newly planned Waterway Square in The Woodlands, Texas.  “We introduced them to a very cool video created by a company called Neoscape of Boston, Massachusetts,” said Tanya Jacobson, Newton’s Creative Director.  Neoscape is an entrepreneurial 3-D photo-realistic visualization, animation and videography studio that specializes in using off-the-shelf and proprietary imaging programs to produce video, images and interactive web sites and programs for the real estate and broadcast industries. “The video had been made for another development located in Boston.”  TWDC liked what they saw and asked Newton to get them some quotes.

So the team at Newton got to work making connections, getting quotes and putting together a plan.  Their first order of business was deciding on which video company they wanted to use.  “We knew that in order to make a video as nice as the one we presented to TWDC, we should contract with the company who did the original video presented,” Jacobson said.  “Using NeoScape made sense because they already had a working relationship with Elkus Manfredi, the architect who worked on many of the Waterway Square buildings we were going to have to animate in 3D. In addition, Elkus was in Boston and happened to be just around the corner from NeoScape – so it was a perfect working relationship.”

With much coordinating to do before they could shoot the video, Tanya along with Newton’s on-the-ground project manager Kelli Moore had their work cut out for them.  “Kelli was focused on finding our talent, pulling permits and basically getting things coordinated.” said Jacobson.  “My main focus was creative concepting, story board creation, script writing, and co-directing.”

Once the filming was underway, the video quickly took shape. “We did an aerial video shoot from a helicopter as well as several location video shoots at Waterway Square,” said Jacobson.  Prior to completion of the video, Jacobson along with TWDC Director of Marketing, Susan Vreeland-Wendt and Vice President of Commercial Development, Dan Leverett, took a trip to Boston for final editing. “It was such a fun trip and a beautiful time to visit Boston.”

Eight months after TWDC solicited Newton’s help, the team unveiled what is now an award winning video of The Waterway Square District.  “We are very proud of this video, said Jacobson.  “It has won a Gold SIAA award as well as a local ADDY award.”  With the Waterway Square video having also been entered into the Telly Awards and the Communicator Awards, Newton is likely to have many more awards on the horizon.  Most recently, Newton received a request to add new buildings to the video, including the new Anadarko tower.

Market Street-The Woodlands Gets New Fashion Forward Website

Jenny Taylor, Director of Marketing for Market Street-The Woodlands, knew that the Market Street website needed a redesign. After all, the award-winning shopping and entertainment destination had many welcome changes and additions take place in recent years and she wanted to be sure their website reflected these changes.  So when Taylor, met with the Newton Design & Marketing team to discuss their need for upgrading their current site, she wanted their website’s new look to be modern and sophisticated while offering their guests better functionality.

Following their meeting, Newton’s Chief Intergalactic Technologist, Robert Harmon and Aesthetic Visionary, Denee Lewis got together to discuss what the new site might look like.  “After examining different layout options for their site, we settled on the slider component as the main home page element,” Lewis said.  “It added contemporary functionality and a sleek presentation for Market Street’s imagery.”  Lewis went on to explain that the background they selected was chosen for its elegant and organic nature, relating to Market Street’s style and location in The Woodlands. Newton designed the website with high end imagery, combined with creative copy and clean organization of information, making it an interesting site to visit as well as an informative one.

Also adding to the design of the new site, Newton included one more feature. “We wanted to keep the site fresh and fun,” said Lewis.  “So the new site’s colors will respond in accordance to the hues of each season.  The best sites combine beauty and functionality.”

On the technical side, Harmon was fast at work on the site’s backend.  He knew that their client’s site needed improved performance as well as to offer users more information, better navigation and enhanced Interactivity.

“The folks at Market Street knew they needed to revamp their custom backend system,” said Harmon.  “We knew that the most effective way to do that was by using Sitefinity, which is powerful ASP .NET web-based content management system.”

By using Sitefinity, Harmon was able to not only provide a smart and simple interface for their clients to manage their web site content, but it also gave them an extensive programming platform, allowing Harmon to seamlessly integrate backend systems, which together with Sitefinity, provided the backbone and driving force the client’s web site needed.  “Now, when you visit Market Street-The Woodlands website, you are presented with award winning design, dynamic interactive features and a clean intuitive interface. “

Newton Design & Marketing is pleased to announce that they are the winners of a Silver ADDY award and a Citation of Excellence at the 50th Annual AAF-Houston ADDY® Awards which were held Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Houston.

Newton won the Silver ADDY for their video “The Woodlands – A Sustainable Vision” and they received their Citation of Excellence for their Direct mail piece “Carlton Woods and Jeff Paul Custom Homes”.

Getting Content with Your Target Audience – Amy Kelley

Content Marketing
Simply put, content marketing is a creative way to effectively communicate with your readers without selling them anything, at least not directly. What I mean by this is that while you may not be soliciting your product outright, you are selling something much more important, yourself.

By letting your readers know who you are and what you have to offer, you are taking the time to develop a relationship with them, which in time will allow them to put their trust in you, your company, and your product. Below are some simple and important steps to help you make content marketing work for you.

Know Your Audience
When writing content, whether it be for your website, blog, Facebook page or any other form of print or social media, take the time to know who your Target Audience (TA) is. For example, if you were to write a letter to a friend, it would sound very different than if you were to write a letter to a stranger. Why? You know your friend; therefore you know exactly what you want to say to them. On the other hand, you do not know the stranger, so you cannot possibly know how to best communicate with them.

That being said; let say your company markets a self defense product meant to help protect a person who often walks alone. Your TA will be athletic men and women, college students and parents. With this information, you can provide much more relevant information to the demographic you need to be reaching.

Make a Plan
You know who your TA is, now you need to know where they are and how to reach them. Let’s use the case of the self defense product listed above. The first thing we need to do is ask ourselves a few questions. Do I have more than one TA? Does my TA have an online presence? What types of traditional marketing techniques would best reach my TA? By answering these questions, you will not only be better equipped at writing content that relates directly to your TA, you will also be better quipped at directing that content to where your TA is most likely to see it.

Newton Wins Two Telly’s… See It!

The Telly Awards has named Newton Design & Marketing as a Double Bronze winner in the 33rd Annual Telly Awards for their video titled The Woodlands – A Sustainable Vision.   Newton received their first Bronze award for the Vision Internet/Online Commercial – Real Estate category and their second bronze for Non-Broadcast Productions – Direct Marketing category.  With nearly 11,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this is truly an honor.

The Woodlands – A Sustainable Vision, video was created to assist The Woodlands Development Company in the promotion of The Woodlands Waterway Square District located in The Woodlands, TX.  The video, which showcased several locations within the Waterway Square District, also included an aerial video shoot that was done from inside a helicopter.

The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films.  Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.

For its 33rd season, The Telly Awards once again joined forces with YouTube to give the public the power to view and rate videos submitted as part of the People’s Telly Awards.  In addition to recognition from the Silver Telly Council, the judging panel that selects the Telly Awards winners, the Internet community helps decide the People’s Telly Awards winners.

A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents.  The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work – entries do not compete against each other – rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit.  Less than 10% of entries are chosen as Winners of the Silver Telly, our highest honor.  Approximately 25% of entries are chosen as Winners of the Bronze Telly.
